Easter 2014 – Scotland, North Wales and the Alps

Easter 2014 was a busy time with trips to different mountain areas. The first trip to Scotland was with Giggleswick School CCF’s D of E training in Scotland. I was lucky to get a spell of very settled weather for the expedition and also fortunate to work with an excellent group of trainees – one of the best I have ever taken. Flying back one night and then an overnight car journey to the Alps is never recommended but a couple of days skiing with Cyrano, Kate, Jamie, Mark and Fern soon loosened me up. Unfortunately, not enough and a fall while going too fast left me with some bruised ribs and a face like a losing boxer

I managed some of the tour but had to ski off early and missed some good snow and excellent weather. After, I accompanied Jamie and Writhlington School to North Wales for their Dof E Training. Once again, it was fun to work with an interesting and increasingly enthusiastic group of students
