A busy few weeks in the summer 2014

It started with a weekend in the Peaks climbing with Cyrano and Jamie to build up their log book experience for SPA. We climbed at Bamford and Windgather, both ideal locations to get a lot of single pitch leads done in a short time. I stayed in the Peaks to work again with Alderwasley School Sixth Form on their activities week climbing sessions. A short spell at home and it was off to Scotland to work with James at Lathallan School providing an ML Training course for their staff. The weather was kind and the midges were absent which led to a very pleasant week in the Southern Cairngorms around Glen Clova. The expedition was done over the Grouse Moors north of Tarfside.

It was then off to the Tour de Mont Blanc with Writhlington School. Unfortunately, it was one of the most continuous spells of wet weather I have experienced in the Alps. It might as well have been the Tour of the Mendips for all we saw of the big mountains. However, despite a number of injuries and a hospital visit, the group were able to complete their D of E Gold expedition. Congratulations to all concerned. We were rewarded finally on the last day with some good weather and a trip to Lac Blanc and down the ladders to Argentiere.
